Vampire Bat Mutant Reader AU, where Reader is an ex-ward of the joined Brotherhood and X-Men, and is possibly related to Wolverine or Sabretooth.

It's a dog eat dog world, and Reader is so, so tired of it. They hate being what they are. They hate being called a monster. And they hate, hate, HATE the people who turned their backs on them, who told them they weren't welcome anymore...

Reader can't help that they were hungry! They can't help that they were born like this. They can't change their mutations or be someone they're not. They can't do it anymore. They refuse.

So here they are, trying to figure out how to make sure they aren't immortal, and letting themself fade away as they refuse to drink blood or eat meat. It hurts, but... they don't want to be stuck on this miserable earth with these horrible people for the rest of eternity. So... they just need to make sure they aren't immortal... they just have to go on a bit longer, is all...

Except among the mutants, well... changes have happened. They're still fierce, dangerous, cold-hearted to their enemies and foes... but they're trying to be a bit better to their kids. Trying to be warmer, or more parental, more caring. They still don't let anyone get away with harming their kids. That's non-negotiable. But they'll try to not jump to conclusions so fast...

The newer mutants (Kurt, Kitty, Evan, and Todd) are excited about school, and at least trying to figure out their powers and make new friends (who aren't just their roommates and guardians). And they like the looks of this new kid, who has sharp eyes and bright teeth and seems a bit too depressed, a bit too lonely...

It's time to make a new friend!

And Reader is terrified that their old "family's" newest members are trying to be around them, because they're scared what will happen if the adults catch wind of this... would they actually kill Reader this time? Would they punish their kids, the way they did to Reader and Scott and Jean and the others? Or something worse?

(Scott is finding it hard to believe, but... the new kid... they look like... but it can't be... Reader? He... he has to tell Jean. Now.)

The lake was known for its crystal-clear waters that mirrored the surrounding trees and the tranquil atmosphere that enveloped its shores. Yet, beneath the shimmering surface, a mysterious creature dwelled, known to the locals as the Silvermist Lake Monster.

On a moonlit night, when the air was thick with magic, you, a powerful witch with a heart as ancient as the trees themselves, emerged from the heart of the forest. Your long, ebony robes billowed behind you as you made your way toward the water's edge.

Meanwhile, deep beneath the surface, the Silvermist Lake Monster, sensed an unfamiliar presence. Curiosity brimming in its luminescent eyes, it swam closer to investigate. The moonlight danced upon the ripples as the monster's eyes surfaced, revealing a majestic creature with shimmering scales and split pupils.

Your eyes widened with awe and intrigue as I caught sight of the lake monster. You had heard whispers of its existence but had never encountered it firsthand. A smile tugged at the corners of your lips, and the monster knew that he wasn’t the strangest thing you have encounter

“Why do you live like that?”-The monster said once

“Rude”- you responded playfully

“Shut up, you know what i mean”- the monster replied

The little friendship between you two started small and slow but as two freaks from the night you had an unspoken undertanding fo each other

The monster turned up being a little bit of a playboy,telling you about the countless sirens and mermaid that had fallen for him. Strangely the tales started to slowly stop, you assume he had his eyes on another person or perhaps prey…

“Would you like me to show you inside?”

“I already broke in once, i'm not a fan of spiders you know, a little cleaning won’t hurt ya’” the playboy monster said

With a smooth movement you rose to your feet and extended your hand,the monster took it without hesitation.

You both enter your home, but instead of the cobwebs and the dirt there was a floor of hardwood and polished teacups and flowers and so much more.

It was a gorgeous sight

“A simple test efficient spell”-you said-“to keep the pest away” you finished with a grin

With each passing night, you two would meet at the lake's edge. Your encounters were filled with wordless conversations, your energies intertwining as we shared tales of our respective realms. You learned of the secrets held within the heart of the lake, while the monster absorbed the wisdom and enchantment that I possessed.

That’s until the monster saw you with another person at the edge of the lake, their scent filled their heart with an intoxicated rage, you couldn’t just go around with other people. He will make sure of it

He will drag you to the bottom of the lake if that means he will get rid of that disgusting scent that tainted your perfect form

LoA made all her sons learn the arts (maybe a subversive “F you” to Beron or for courtly reasons) and Eris is a good dancer as we know, but I bet he would be musically inclined as well and plays several musical instruments (the cello specifically.) ♥️

💭⇢ What's a dream project you'd love to make for a future Eris Week?

I’ve been longing to write an Azris vampire AU. It was conceived thanks to this gorgeous art by @elleybug Eris as Vampire gentleman of course. I can’t decide if Azriel is a Vampire hunter, or just a beautiful human who gets into some trouble lol. But in my mind it’s all New Orleans courtyards, flickering lanterns, silk cravats, and black horse drawn carriages…

🦊 ⇢ What’s your favorite fan theory or speculation about Eris?

I love the idea that Eris and Nesta are kindred spirits. Not romantic per se, but just that they “get each other” and maybe over time develop an understanding or friendship. I think they have so much in common and SJM hints to this is SF, but in more of a negative light. I think there’s a lot of positives too.
